American Bank of New Jersey opens its new retail banking facility in Bloomfield. The new branch is located at 347 Broad Street, between CVS and Quick Chek, and just across the parking lot from the current location at 365 Broad Street that has served local customers for over two generations. Doors to the new facility opened April 9th. The bank will retain its current building to accommodate the organization’s Corporate Headquarters.
Edward Nejman, American Bank of New Jersey Assistant Vice President will continue to manage the Bloomfield branch at its new location. The Bloomfield drive-thru facility, located across the street from the current branch, will also continue to serve bank customers.
American Bank of New Jersey CEO Joseph Kliminski stated, “While the bank has been aggressively expanding over the past couple of years, there is something truly special about opening a new, state-of-the-art facility right here in Bloomfield, where it all began for us 89 years ago. We’re so proud of our growth and are confident that this new facility in Bloomfield, just a few steps away from our current branch, will introduce an entirely new level of customer service to the town where we call headquarters. There is no finer place to experience community banking at its best.”
Bloomfield, NJ - April, 2008 Friendship. Laughter. Talent shows. Campfires with ‘smores. Catching lightning bugs. And most of all…a lifetime of memories. These are a few of the sweet experiences of summer camp that American Bank of New Jersey, the Bloomfield, NJ-based community bank, will be giving to children affected with neuromuscular diseases as a result of its charitable donation of funds to the “Shamrocks Against Dystrophy” program. The fundraising campaign, which ran for six weeks, began in February and ended on the ultimate day of shamrocks, St. Patrick’s Day.
By enthusiastically reaching out to bank customers as well as local businesses in the area and asking “Would you like to buy a Shamrock?” the entire staff of American Bank of NJ collectively raised a total of $4,006, more than doubling last year’s contribution of $1,950. The money raised from this campaign was donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to help support services for families affected by diseases covered under MDA’s program.
Specifically, American Bank’s generous donation will send five local children to Camp Visions, a camp for children affected with neuromuscular diseases. Any child age 6-21 from the tri-state area, who is registered with MDA, can attend this one-week summer camp. Located in Spring Valley, NY, Camp Visions is a place where kids meet other kids with neuromuscular diseases and, with the help of volunteer counselors, have the greatest time of their lives playing sports, swimming, fishing and enjoying the fun activities that all kids love about summer camp. Kids registered with the MDA look forward to this week all year long and come home from the camp with many lasting friendships and memories.
Lois Anderson, American Bank of NJ Vice President of Branch Administration, stated, “All of our branches did an exceptional job raising money for this wonderful organization. Everyone got involved…tellers, managers and administrators alike. I am so proud of our staff, and it is very heartwarming to know that our American Bank family is able to help provide a truly joyful experience for these terrific kids.”

In 1993, The Bloomfield Public Library initiated a "Buy a Sunday Program" designed to increase library service. The innovative program encourages community members and local businesses to donate money to the library so it can remain open throughout the weekend.
One of the consistent supporters of "Buy a Sunday" is American Bank on Broad Street. American Bank's annual gift to the library assures a full month of Sundays for the community to enjoy.
To participate in the Bloomfield Library "Buy a Sunday" program with a donation of any amount, call 973-566-6200. Each Sunday of library service is valued at approximately $450.
For more than eight decades, American Bank has participated in community events, supported local charities, and sponsored high school and recreation sports teams.
"As a long-time community business, it is important to give back to Bloomfield and our neighbors," Joseph Kliminski, American's CEO said. "American is more than a local bank. We are THE hometown bank for residents of Bloomfield, Cedar Grove and surrounding towns."
American is currently participating with three local organizations in important charity efforts in the lobby of the Bank's main branch on Broad Street in Bloomfield.
Local residents can bring non-perishable food items to the Bank, which will be distributed, to local families through the Church On the Green's Food Pantry.
The Bank is also collecting used eyeglasses to be donated to the Bloomfield Lions Club's program for the visually impaired.
Additionally, American is collecting Campbell Soup labels for the Bloomfield Public Library in the library's efforts to raise money for computer upgrades.
Why not drop in to your hometown bank and join us in the effort to help our neighbors?
